Kenya Gichugene AA UTZ
This classic Kenyan coffee beans boasts bright tomatoey undertones balanced with a smooth honey finish. Farmed in Meru County, this single origin coffee is grown on the eastern slopes of Mt. Kenya, a region rich in mineral soils and abundant rainfall.
Registered in the early 1950's, Gichugene is one of four wet mills under the Katheri Farmers Co-operative Society (FCS) with about 2,200 members. This society is committed to high quality standards and requires its board members to produce at least 1,000kg of coffee alongside its farmers. In addition, the society educates its members on organic farming and best farming practices such as testing the soil's PH level and pruning trees. In 2017, the society received its UTZ certification, a well deserved nod for sustainable farming practices.
